Hockey

Hocley at Wild Eagle Lodge

Eagle River is Wisconsin's Hockey Capital

Hockey is a long-standing tradition in Eagle River and our community is supported by a very strong local organization - the Eagle River Recreation Association (ERRA).  Our love for hockey fuels the many tournaments, year-around ice hockey schools and an annual adult pond hockey tournament that is held in Eagle River every winter.

Eagle River Ice Arena - Hockey and Figure Skating Programs

The ERRA bought the Ice Arena from private interests in 1963 and have been maintaining, growing and improving this sporting venue and its programming ever since.  In 1975 the Eagle River Ice Arena became home to the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame and in 1996-97 the ERRA added a second rink providing an Olympic-sized venue and expanded ice time for various skating endeavors.  Our Eagle River Ice Area is home to various hockey and figure skating events year around.  Many tournaments, lessons and camps are held.  Wild Eagle Lodge is located just a few minutes from the Ice Arena and welcomes hockey and other participants to the many ERRA events.

Annual Labatt Blue USA Adult Pond Hockey Tournament

Eagle River is also home to the Annual Labatt Blue USA Adult Pond Hockey Tournament held every February.  Adult 4-on-4 Teams from all over the country descend on Eagle River for a weekend of tournament challenge like no other!  Dollar Lake becomes a meticulous maze of pond hockey rinks and spectators are welcome too.  Wild Eagle Lodge is the premiere resort lodging facility hosting numerous teams for this annual event.  After vigorous on-ice challenges, pond hockey teammates enjoy our pool, whirlpool and Boondocker's Lounge on-site.  The Annual National Pond Hockey Championships will again be held right here in Eagle River, February 10-12, 2012 -- plan now to join us for this event!
