Wild Eagle Lodge Guest Lands a Monster Smallie!

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
Pat C. with a beauty

Check out this wallhanger!

Frequent resort visitor Pat C. from Bettendorf, IA., landed this wallhanger on Sept. 5th. This beauty was caught on an orange/black Pacemaker muskie lure! The fish measured 20″ and our resident guide, Muskie Matt, estimated its weight at 6 lbs. The fish was caught on Yellow Birch Lake. Pat’s wife Janet, an aspiring muskie angler, assisted with the catch. Although, they didn’t land a muskie on this day, this smallie made for some great memories.
Wild Eagle Lodge is located on the largest chain of freshwater lakes in the world. The lakes are home to trophy muskie, walleye, pike, bass and an abundance of panfish.

Paulding Light

A recent submission to the Wild Eagle Lodge photo contest.

A recent submission to the Wild Eagle Lodge photo contest.

It was a spectacular Labor Day weekend here in the Northwoods; I think Mother Nature saved the best weather for last. The guests were out all weekend enjoying the great outdoors and all the activities in the area. Julie made her first trip up to visit the Paulding light; she was a little freaked out. On your next trip to the Wild Eagle Lodge you will have to be sure to stop by and see this one of a kind attraction. For those of you who are not familiar with the Paulding light it is a light in the sky that comes out at night near the town of Paulding Michigan. There have been numerous attempts by many groups to explain this occurrence but they never have been able to. We have been getting a lot of entries for our photo contest in recent weeks, be sure to submit your pictures from a recent stay with us.

Labor Day Weekend

Jarrod Adamovich and Brian Krelle with their winning fish

Labor Day weekend is here, and it looks like it is going to be a great one. If you are still looking for something to do this weekend come up and visit us. Labor Day is the unofficial and to summer here at the Wild Eagle Lodge, it’s a little sad to say good bye to summer as in usual fashion it flew bye. The one highlight is that fall is now here at the Wild Eagle Lodge, in my mind we get some of the best weather of the year during the fall. Nice cool nights for sleeping and spending time around a campfire, and highs in the low 70’s to upper 60’s which is great for hiking or any other of the many outdoor activities you can take part in. the arrival Fall also kicks off another great time for all of you anglers out there, peak muskie fishing season. As you can see from the picture above from the Wisconsin Muskie Tour event held here last weekend that the big fish are out and biting. This is actually a photo of the winning fish. Well I hope you all get out and enjoy this Labor Day Weekend.

 Talk to you soon,

 -Justin

Weekend Outlook Good!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

The weekend looks like it is going to be great! The forecast is calling for the upper 70’s and sunny so you can enjoy the Northwoods to it’s fullest.  The Wild Eagle Lodge will be hosting another wedding this weekend. Also in town is the Apple Harvest Craft Fest at the Fairgrounds Sat. & Sun. 9:30am-4:30pm which I am hoping to attend while my husband enjoys the Eagle River Gun Show at the Eagle River Ice Arena. Saturday evening is also the Chain Skimmers Labor Day Water Ski Show at 5pm on Lake Pleasant which is always a fun way to end the summer. You will find a little something for everyone to do this weekend before heading back to school and work for the fall.
